Get to know Ms. Lazu



Ms. Lazu began her career with Chicago Public Schools in 1995 working as a special education teacher’s assistant at Brentano Math and Science Academy while completing her undergraduate degree in teaching. Upon graduating from Northeastern Illinois University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Education, she began her teaching career as an 8th grade science teacher.


To better understand Diverse Learners and English Language Learners, she pursued a Master’s Degree in Bilingual Special Education from Chicago State University. Looking to have a greater impact on students, she earned a Master’s Degree in School Administration and Supervision from Concordia University. In 2006, Ms. Lazu accepted a new position and transferred to Goudy Elementary School where she began her leadership career as an assistant principal.


In 2012, Ms. Lazu accepted the principal position at Little Village Academy where her passion for all students continues to drive her focus. With over 12 years of experience in school leadership, Ms. Lazu is a dedicated and innovative instructional leader who is purpose-driven, people centered and passionate about helping others grow both professionally and personally.
